"title": "What Is A Bitmap Punk?",
"body": "To our cherished supporters,\n\nWe acknowledge that art is a highly subjective realm, and this subjectivity extends to our Bitmap Punks collection.\n\nThis project was born out of communal effort, and through the submissions we've received, we have been able to appreciate the unique artistry and vision that each contributor brings to every Bitmap.\n\nThe concept of a marketplace integrated with visuals, once a dream, has now become a reality. We're able to move forward, fully committed to this vision. Numerous bitmap holders have been in dialogue, trying to establish a consensus on the definition of a bitmap punk or the standards it should adhere to. Our approach has been to build on the submissions we've received, rather than imposing a pre-determined definition.\n\nWhile some visualize heads, faces, or punks, we firmly believe that the punk concept should not be restrictive. This aligns with the punk ethos we are building on: openness, creativity, and a challenge to the status quo.\n\nIt's important to understand that art's beauty lies in its subjectivity. What you consider to be a punk may differ from someone else's perception. If you have a narrative and wish to see it expressed, that is your prerogative. We intentionally left our submission guidelines broad because the idea of what constitutes a 'punk' wasn't even clear to us. We view all submissions as fantastic works of art, each with the potential to redefine the concept of a bitmap punk.\n\nIn making our decisions, we had to consider the community as a whole, including those who wish to make a quick profit and those who desire to be part of something bigger. It was difficult to discount any entry that did not adhere strictly to the original concept of a crypto punk. However, as we progress, we realize the necessity of moving beyond these well-worn concepts and ideas, and redefining what it means to be a 'punk'.\n\nThis Friday (7/21/2023), we are reopening the submissions form, basing our guidelines on the range of submissions we've already received. We will ensure that there is room for everyone to express their opinions and visions within their submissions. Remember, we are all underdogs, we are all outliers, and we are all punks.\n\nWe are here to shake up the prevailing narratives.\n\nThank you all for your incredible support. It has been an incredible journey thus far, and we eagerly look forward to sharing with you our ultimate vision for native art on Bitcoin."
