THE BITCOIN MINT PRESS DOCUMENTATION 

Welcome to The Bitcoin Mint Press, an evolving Bitcoin publishing collection open to a community of writers, readers and artists.

At the fundamental level, this collection is simply an immutable and public cataloging system for recording new Bitcoin Mint editions and issues. It isn’t a digital reader or media outlet. It is simply a way to verify copies of collection issues and official physical mints. The collection keeps the content free and accessible to whoever wants to reproduce it.

Anyone who owns one of the chapter artifacts can respond with feedback, suggest edits or create a spin-off collection issue. 

ISSUES

Bitcoin Mint issues are any paper cataloged under The Bitcoin Mint Press artifact collection. The cataloging system inscribes chapters of issues into sets of digital artifacts. For example, if an issue has 10 chapters, it will have 10 chapter artifacts in its collection. 

DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM 

The Bitcoin Mint Press uses a permissionless and royalty-free distribution system. Anyone can print exact copies or uninscribed iterations of the public catalog. 

PRINT EDITIONS

Official print editions are any copies with at least one chapter that exactly matches a chapter inscribed in the catalog. These editions use a decimal indexing system to track the fidelity of each copy by chapter.

For example, if an issue has ten chapters, it will have ten decimals referencing each chapter, starting from left to right. Each chapter that isn’t inscribed will have an "X," and each chapter that is inscribed will have a number corresponding to the chapter artifact’s inscription ordinal.

If a print edition references only the first inscription of the first chapter artifact, its print edition will be cataloged as 1.X.X.X.X.X.X.X.X.X.

A print edition that references only the second inscription of the third chapter artifact will be cataloged as X.X.2.X.X.X.X.X.X.X.
THE FIRST ISSUE INSCRIPTION SCHEDULE 

I plan to gradually inscribe each chapter of The Bitcoin Mint’s first issue as I continue to edit and incorporate feedback from the community. This progressive launch will culminate in ten first-edition prints. 

To be deemed a first edition, the print must include the first inscription of each chapter in a sequential, unbroken manner.

For example, the first edition will include the inscribed version of the first chapter along with the remaining unfinished chapters:

The second edition will include the first and second finished versions: 

1.1.X.X.X.X.X.X.X.X

And the pattern will continue until all finalized chapter inscriptions are included in the last edition:

PHYSICAL FIRST-EDITION MINTS 

The first issue of the Bitcoin Mint will also include a sub-collection of first editions minted as physical bitcoin artifacts. These sub-collections will use wooden covers that can bind the print and produce burn addresses for artifact materialization. Each first-edition Mint will have a physical artifact receipt inscribed under its corresponding catalog collection. Each first edition mint will remain open until the next chapter or issue is inscribed. 

ISSUE CHAPTER DIGITAL AUCTIONS

I plan to hold two chapter auctions for the first Issue. The first auction will be launched after the inscription of the fifth chapter, and the second auction will be launched after the inscription of the 10th chapter. 

PHYSICAL FIRST-EDITION MINT AUCTIONS

I plan to organize regular meet-ups for physical first-edition mints as soon as they become available. Sign up for the email newsletter to receive updates on when and where the physical and digital auctions will take place. 

CHAPTER REINSCRIPTIONS 

Anyone who holds a chapter artifact will be able to add feedback and revisions through an unlimited number of reinscriptions.  

NEW ISSUES

Bitcoin Ordinal theory also gives anyone the ability to nest a subcollection of artifacts under any artifact they own. So, if you want to use a chapter artifact to issue a new paper through The Bitcoin Mint Press, I recommend first inscribing the name of the issue followed by the same structure of the first issue:

This way, you can transfer the chapter inscription without losing the ability to add to your own collection. 

SEQUENTIAL ISSUES 

Issue owners can continue to publish sequential issues within their collection. For example, as The Bitcoin Mint Collection grows through physical and digital networks, I plan to publish a second issue of The Bitcoin Mint that responds to the community's dominant ideas and themes.
